#13 Freeze Dance

#13 Freeze Dance

My family loves Music! We love to sing along with our favorite songs, and yes we even love to dance to them. By no means are we a musically talented family. We just love music and think it's a blast to sing and dance.

Because of this, there is a game we love playing called "Freeze Dance." I've made a couple cd's of our favorite songs that we pop into the living room cd player. When the songs start playing, we start dancing. I hold onto the remote and every once in a while I pause the disc at which point everyone has to freeze. Everyone stays still until I push play and the music starts again. Then the dancing commences.

Our kids have a blast with this! Especially when one of their favorite songs comes on. It's a lot of fun and good exercise too.

If you need some song ideas here's a sample of what we have on our playlist:
Allstar by Smashmouth
Hakuna Matata by Disney
Love Addict by Family Force Five
Breaking Free from High School Musical
U Can't Touch This by MC Hammer
Life Is A Highway by Rascal Flatts (From CARS)
Round Up by Michael Higdon

Yes, some of the songs are old school, but we love 'em!

What songs would your family "freeze dance" to?

  1. My family loves to dance to around the pool; here is list of a few songs that we include in our whoop it up dance party. "We Are Family" the 1979 dance hit song by Sister Sledge. “Dont cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me” by the Pussycat Dolls. “Love Shack” from the B-52’s of course. Another hit from the late 70’s “Y.M.C.A." by the Village People. My mom favorite song that she always had my sister and I dancing to the 1960’s hit "The Twist" by Chubby Checker.
    Smiles, Paula

  2. We don't have a CD player that we can pause, but sometimes when the kids are getting antsy I will turn on the TV to one of the music stations and we will have a "dance party". This usually lasts until the 4-year-old feigns exhaustion. (My 1 year old twins would dance all day!) But the freeze component does seem like it would make it more fun and interactive. (Hmmmm.... I guess I do have a DVR, so I COULD pause it. We'll have to try it!)
